If you do not want to spend a lot of cash you can find a lot of free things to do and experience in our town. Vilnius is a city where you can find quite a few free activities.
Gediminas Hill: You can get on Gediminas Hill for free by using steps to enjoy a nice panoramic view of the city. However, funicular is not expensive. It costs only 1 EUR one way. For an additional price (6EUR), you can visit the museum in the tower on the hill.
The Center for Civil Education: Using interactive touchscreens and walking through exhibition halls, you will become acquainted with history, principles of governance, and notable figures of Lithuania. This is where you will understand how Lithuanian democracy functions. The museum is free but you have to register before visiting it https://registracija.pazinkvalstybe.lt
Courtyards of the old campus of Vilnius University: The architectural ensemble of Vilnius University reflects the predominant styles in Lithuanian architecture – Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classicism. The model of Old Campus of University represents Lithuania in the Mini-Europe Park in Brussels. The old campus accommodates the Faculties of History, Philology, Philosophy, the University Library, and the Rector’s Office. Currently, the University's architectural ensemble consists of 13 courtyards with 13 buildings, each comprising multiple blocks, as well as the Church of St. John and a belfry.
Bernardine Garden is the most beautiful free public park in Vilnius. It is located on the left bank of the Vilnia river between the Gediminas Hill and Bernardine Monastery. In its territory you can find the monastery exposition, the botanic exposition, walking tracks, fountains, children's playground. It hosts a variety of festivals and exhibitions, including an amateur chess championship.
The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Vilnius is an impressive example of Italian Baroque architecture. It is worth visiting due to approximately 2000 stucco sculptures crafted by two Italian masters in the 17th century. The church is free, but you can leave a donation.
Literatu Street is a narrow but beautiful street in Vilnius Old Town. The walls of the street are decorated with more than 200 works of art - dedications to writers and poets. The dedications are dedicated to both Lithuanian writers and foreign writers who have connections to our city.
Gallery "Galera": In the Uzupis district, known as the artist's quarter, there is a free gallery called Galera. The gallery is located in the Uupis Art Incubator, where many artists rent studios and create. In the courtyard next to the gallery, you will find numerous installations, art pieces, wall paintings, and other forms of street art.
Open Gallery is international street art gallery in Vilnius under the open sky. The gallery exhibits colorful drawings of Lithuanian and foreign artists on factory walls, impressive large-scale light installations and sculptures. It is an ongoing project, which is supplemented every year by new long-term works and installations. You can find it at Svitrigailos Street 29
The White Bridge Sports Complex: White Bridge sports field next to the bridge, which hosts 9 beach volleyball courts, 3 double-sided basketball courts, a park for roller skaters and skateboarders, outdoor training grounds and children playgrounds.
The Hill of Three Crosses: This hill offers the most beautiful panoramic view of Vilnius. A concrete sculpture of Three Crosses is situated on the hill, visible from the center of Vilnius.
The Gate of Dawn is the only surviving historical gate to Vilnius. This gate is also known for the Gate of Dawn Chapel, where you can find the miraculous, centuries-old painting of the Madonna of Vilnius
